How to create self- awareness at home?
1. Ask the students to inform parents what they have learnt in Daycare and at school.
For example, at the news sharing today, teacher had shared the news about the information of Hand, Foot and Mouth disease, or sharing of the history of Malaysia gaining Independence, teacher can encourage students to go home and share that news to their parents, through sharing, not only they get to revise what they’ve learnt, they also learnt to express the ideas, their thoughts to people!

(My fingers were hurt, and the students were all curious, they wanted to see the injured on my fingers, I show it to them, warning them that it is very disgusting, but they insist they won’t think that it’s disgusting. LOL, how cute they are.

When I finally reveal the injured, I told them since I have unwrapped my injured, I need to wrap it with another new plaster, and I am quite touched/ feeling warmed that they offer to wrap my fingers, including bringing the dustbin to throw away the packaging of the plaster.

Now reviewing at this profile, I feel that sometimes as a teacher, we can show the vulnerable, but a not-so vulnerable side of us, we can elicit the nature caring side 人之初, 性本善 of these kids.
If we continue to remain perfect all the time, as in like we were to protect them all the time, and students believed that they need to be protected all the time, they won’t have the opportunity to exercise their ability to care for others, to protect others. In the end, they believed that themselves have no ability to care for others, which is not true!

Let me re-emphasize, showing our vulnerable side at the suitable time, in a way it doesn’t affect our credibility, or recede our strictness towards them.)
